Fan Film Poster: The Substance
This movie was groundbreaking in my opinion, and I loved it so much that I felt compelled to create my own version of a movie poster. I played with a colorful design using pink and blue to represent the two characters. The sketchy style, as opposed to my usual clean linework, was an intentional choice. The characters are messy and gritty, and given the body horror themes surrounding beauty standards, I didn’t want them to appear too polished or beautiful.
Sketching Process
When I do my sketching process, I typically redo the pencil sketch into a cleaner lineart. But I felt the rough edges made the most sense for the characters and theme of this film.
